Had not heard of an apassimento Barbera, so that was a must try. Thick AM powerfull wine, a bit sweetness as expected form the dried grapjes. Bold flavours: cherries, licqourish, chocolate, bit peppery and some bayleaf. Still with tannine. It was an experiment to repeat.

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

Fruity nose with cherries, black plums, sweet blueberries, light earth, chocolates, river rocks, light vegetables and peppercorn.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity and nice legs.

Dry on the palate with plums, cherries, blueberries, earth, spices, peppercorn, leather and tobacco.

Nice finish with spices and fine grained tannins.

This is a nice surprise. A very nice Italian Barbera. Easy drinking with a nice mouthfeel and mild complexity. Tastes like a nice Ripasso.

Good right out of the bottle and good by itself or with food. This is a fun wine. Fruit forward, engaging and good for parties.

13.5% alcohol by volume.

88 points.

$25.

Had a taste from a bartender, made by the appassimento process, same grape-drying process used to produce Amarone, but with Barbara grapes. Ruby with sweet red fruit aromas and herb notes. On the palate ripe strawberry and dried raspberry flavors, some earthy notes on sweet tannins. Nice finish, not overly acidic, great value for price. Tasting Sample.

Saw this “Appassimento-Style” Barbera on the wine list and had to try it. Medium ruby color. Aromas and flavors of cooked blackberries, violets, black figs and nuts. Touch of vanilla on the finish. Quite full bodied and bold. Hint of RS on the long finish. Extremely fruit forward but also somewhat interesting.

Pale to medium ruby in color; cherries, raspberries, smoke and graphite on the nose; medium plus acidity; high tannins; tastes like licorice, black cherries, and blackberry jam with a long, sweet finish. Even better after a little aeration. It has intense flavors that may not be for everyone, but I'm enjoying it.

Kevyesti mausteinen ja marjainen. Hyvä valinta liharuokien kanssa.

Keskitäyteläinen, tummia marjoja, kevyen mausteinen, hieman hapokkuuttakin keventämässä. Erittäin hyvä grillatun ruoan kanssa!
