Jul 18th, 2023In a great place now. Wonderful, shimmering nose of yellow fruits, elite minerals, chiseled out of clouds, apple, but like some insane applesauce. So refined so pretty. Palate has an elegant density and such refinement. This is a much more impressive wine than the Syrah for me. I‘ve tasted a lot of St. Joseph white and this really is distinctive and great. And with proper age it’s truly a wonder. The Syrah is great but not as interesting as the white. There’s my hot delectable take!
The length is remarkable as is the treacly element combined with the cake icing element makes the texture just lift this wine into the stratosphere.

Stupendous, maybe the best Rhône white I’ve ever had. Pale gold, smells like tiny white spring blossoms, baked apple and Meyer lemon. Viscous, oily mouthfeel with more lemon and flowers, peaches, melon, honey, tea and marzipan, a little smoky on the back, somehow maintains great freshness through all of that. The Gonon St Joseph rouge is probably overrated at this point (I wouldn’t know, it’s been a while and it’s too expensive) but this might be underrated

Light, bright yellow. Meyer lemon, pear nectar and jasmine scents show fine definition and pick up suggestions of tarragon and beeswax with air. Lively and precise on the palate, offering pliant citrus and orchard fruit flavors and a deeper suggestion of nectarine that builds on the back half. Shows very good clarity and mineral cut on the strikingly long finish, which leaves a sexy floral note behind. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, May 2020)

Somewhere between young/fresh and mature/open, this was a lovely bottle which was dense, waxy, flush with fruit and also mineral and long. Great place to drink but no hurry.

Mar 24th, 2018Not as astoundingly flushed with width and depth as the rouge with the vintage. Tight textures and smoky minerality, chiseled, more precise and linear at first, and it’s opening into broadness comes with a youthful restraint. Will age well, and will be a fun wine to watch, I expect a lot of texture and intensity to come forth in a few years.

Real tropical fruit nose almost edging into confected but then more towards the bakery and an apricot Danish. On the palate it's lighter in structure than the '10 &'11 but with a fresher acidity, be interesting to see how this ages.
