Les Genévrières Meursault 1er Cru Chardonnay

Starting to show some age. Also, some pre mox notes. On open not there but now they are def there. After 45 mins open. But not like full blown. Like 10% premox. Maybe 7.5%. Loads of earth and spice. Palate is ok. A but heavy and too rich. This is very mediocre. Hope it’s an off bottle and not the way that is aging.

Last bottle of 2013 was premoxed and this is decidedly not and just amazing stuff. Gorgeous minerality, unreal subtle wood, Meyer lemon, gorgeous wood smoke, like flaming embers not barrel wood, so so aromatic and detailed. So elegant and precise. God tier aromas. Palate is just perfect. Elegant, scary elegant, so so complex and unreal juiciness. This is so harmonious and has the most wonderful texture and palate presence. Terrific concentration and juiciness. Really just a magnificent wine. Best young Chavy Chouet I’ve ever had. Remarkable.

Nose is like 45-50% pre moxed. See that color? Palate is good. Rich, complex and deep. Nose has some minerals, lime zest, and real depth but the almond:sherry thing is also there. This is half premoxed. Still drinkable but not in an ideal state.

In a great drinking stage. Citrus, hazelnut, brioche. Mineral, citrus oil and stone on the finish. Has some years of life ahead but great now. Medium body with some phenolics on the finish

Nose is showing a bit of wood out of the gates but under that is a gorgeous core of limestone, lime lest, airy minerals, some richness and you can tell there is more to come. Very refined. Palate is rich and powerful with great freshness and fruit intensity. It grips your palate. Classic Genevrieres opulence married with tension. Amazing density and texture with just explosive juiciness and acidity. Terrific length. Mineral tinged fruit soaked finish. This is terrific.

So good. Accessible as Genevrieres can be early. Nose of limestone and minerals galore. Very complex. Nice hint of oak spice. Palate is elegant and mineral as all can be, with terrific sap and complexity. Dense and deep with a limestone palate cleansing finish. So long and juicy. Very elegant. Excellent. Took 35 minutes to open.

Really interesting--will want to try another before assessing, but this was aromatic out of the gate with a nose almost like candied peaches...then there was plenty of nicely etched white Burgundy features--cream, minerals, some oaky richness, but plenty of acid. There's a neat combination of richness and tension here. Curious to try the next one.

Not familiar, but this is some great shit, classic & balanced in every sense of the word, solid...

Absolutely brilliant bottle, this is day 2 after being out in the market in San Francisco yesterday & flying down to San Diego! Gorgeous nose, minerals, honey, white flowers, flavors of apricots, peaches, sweet spices, finishes with sweet citrus. This is power, grace, balance, vibrant, pure, fresh, with promise for a long happy life...
