Dense purple red in color. Barrel smoke, briar, red fruit, caramel-toffee notes in nose. Thin body. Blackberry, briar, cherry and pickled veg notes in mouth, slightly alcoholic. Slightly sour, may need time to open.

Hmm. Intense but still silky smooth. Flowers!

Pretty, floral nose. Fruity on the front palate with the back palate highlighting the wine's grippy tannins. Made with Roussanne rather than Viognier that was used in previous vintages, its missing the depth and silkiness of the '13.

Elegantly styled with perfumed aromas and flavours of black cherry, black currant, violets, and a background of pepper and subtle meatiness. Lovely structure and good complexity.

Fruit forward - plums and cherries. Dry, medium acidity. Flavours of wood chips and pepper, with great length. Excellent pairing with steak. Loved it.

After a 1 hour decant this was a wonderful, well-balanced Syrah. It paired very well with a pork tenderloin.
