Mosaic Alexander Valley Meritage Cabernet Sauvignon Blend

Once more we dig way back into the cellar. Slightly hazy blackish purple in the glass. Fruit-forward nose(!) of cassis and graphite. Echoed on the full-bodied palate with medium plus(!) dusty tannins and medium acidity. Medium long finish extends the palate gracefully though with a very slight(!) hint of alcohol burn. Clearly New World, but with a bit of an Old World feel. We’re just over 15(!) years on and it’s really showing marvelously. I pulled this to accompany meat loaf, but I’d feel good taking this to a steak(!) house and pairing with a Porterhouse or prime rib. Drink it if you’ve got it, but(!) there’s a few years left.

Great full bodied wine with luscious fruit flavor

Dark cherry and blueberry with hints of toasty oak.

Solid

Good. Complex enough. Hint of earthiness. Tannins might have been a touch aggressive. Star rating takes into account price and value to me. Paid $60, but is a $75 bottle

15 years and could probably sit another 5 or 10 -- if one likes smooth tannins. For me, it's perfect now. Cassis and plum with a touch of leather and blueberry. To be sure, it was practically impossible to make a bad red in wine country in '01, I think this blend matured wonderfully.

Lovely blend but prefer their Zinfandels
