Intriguing bouquet of eucalyptus, menthol, crushed red berry followed by a vibrant and fresh palate expression of raspberry coulis, blackberry, and red cherry, line of acid at the end with some good lift. Good sipper and great with coq au vin

Rustic in nature yet with a cheerful personality of delicate flowers and fruits. Shows an authentic terroir of iron and stone and while right now will continue to be pleasant down the road.

Nov 2nd, 2015Le Sang des Cailloux Vacqueyras has long been a favorite of mine. The 2012, however, is admittedly too young (a condition complicated by my lack of a wine cellar where I'm currently staying). On the upside, delicate floral notes of lilac and violets lend a softening note to an otherwise masculine wine. There are, too notes of black cherries, blackberries, incense, sandalwood and loamy earth. Medium-bodied, with good concentration and power, there is an iron ore note that leaves the finish metallic-seeming.
