Some good booze this week! Castel Giacondo, poised, silky texture, not showing it's 15% Alc, Wendouree Shiraz Mataro, drinking beautifully, layers of yumminess, YY Carodus Merlot true to site with rich sweet fruit and restraint, would have loved a bit more structure from it. All delicious. #FilthyGoodVino #Wine #Wendouree #Brunello #YarraYering

Brought to our home as an offering from a friend - really nice of him. The wine was good. Not sure of the 2008 vintage in Italy. Mushrooms and muted fruit came through on the nose. Regretfully, the juice didn't give up much on the palette. Good texture, but lacks the velvety presence that I often experience with Sangiovese. Needs more time to put on some weight.

Could benefit from a few more years but showing quite a bit on the palate after an hour opened. Dark red and soft black fruits, tobacco and old library book. Good times.

March 2024. Solid, classic, very enjoyable Brunello. Have had 2 vintages if this wine now. 2014 here and the 2016 in a restaurant. This 2014 (not a great vintage year) was surprisingly very good. The 2016 was young,so we decanted. It was much better, as expected given the great vintage year ‘16 was. Look forward to having more of this!

20 years Brunello. Black currant and Blue and black berry, oak aroma. Quite smooth and silky, good enough acidity. 2003 @2945, chateau - P Enoteca, 230628-230704

Straightforward brunello with a softer side. We let it breathe for an hour or so, to find it fully open, subtle, and well balanced. Fresh soil, grass, toasted tobacco, and underripe dark blackberries and raspberries. Would drink it again if offered, but not our favorite in its price range by a mile.
