The wine I have selected tonight is the 2016 Poggio Anima Asmodeus Nero D'Avola.

Upon first sniff this wine shows very tight. I think we will have to wait awhile to let it open up. After about 2 hours this wine starts to show itself. I am getting black cherry, black plum, raspberry, licorice, spices, vanilla and violets.

On the palate it also was a very difficult wine at the beginning. Letting it open up over those 2 hours was very beneficial, it really opened up and showed dark cherry, strawberry, tart plum, licorice, herbs, spice , vanilla and dusty earth.

This is a medium to full bodied wine with medium + acidity and medium + fine tannins that leads to a medium to long finish. Stay safe and enjoy your rest of the week. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷

I see why everyone says, "goes well with pizza." This wine would overpower most lighter fare and probably is better off on its own. Strong dark, leathery, cherry-ish fruit that lingers with funk and almost bitter finish. Really into this one.

Serious points for Bang for the buck here. Juicy blackberries, violets, strawberry jam and slight pepper.

A juicy, if not delectable, treat. This full bodied red is packed with fruit and flavor without being too sweet. Perfect for an evening of Netflix and Pizza or for fireside conversation with friends. Easy on the palete and the wallet. A definite sip.
