Very Good Shit indeed! This is a big, fruity and bodacious syrah. At 5 years old, it is still tight and needs a healthy aeration to maximize the experience. It is tannic, saturated, and full of plum. It is heady and maybe just a little bit showy, up front, (the finish is definitely strong, but somehow it is slightly narrow in its dimension... perhaps because it needs more time to open). This is definitely fantastic Syrah!

Easy to please. The Zin really shines through, but the Cab, Merlot, and Syrah add some serious depth. Raspberry, kirsch, milk chocolate, loam, and leather, with some polish on the finish.

VGS indeed! Another solid year of Illegitimate. Not many layers or complexity. Not overly oaky, either. Just easy to drink. Kept getting better over the course of a few hours. Perfect for a group with diverse preferences. Great Christmas-crowd wine. $30 bargain.
