Fun to come across an aged Sancerre pinot at a guesthouse on Ngor Island, off the coast of Dakar. Popped three bottles—one was corked, one past its prime, and one was a real treat: still vibrant red berries, floral bouquet, lavender, showing its age with a pretty garnet in the glass.

The bouquet is fresh and very floral. The color is a vibrant ruby red with an immediate taste of tart red raspberries. A full zing, medium tannins, along with a silky and smooth finish. Paired well with a Cosmic apple, sharp cheddar, champagne blueberry preserves, Marcona almonds, and fresh raspberries and blackberries! A true gem!
