Nose has dried cherry, dried rose petals, dark chocolate bar, ripe plum and distant cedar closet.
Palate has prune, dried cherry (unsweetened), dried raspberry, (light) canned plum tomato, grippy tannins and medium finish.
Honestly, much better than I was expecting, it's punching above the ~$23 price point; way to go Costco! I'll be intrigued to see if a 2016 version shows up, I'll surely be buying it, even if it's a little above this cost.
Decanted 3+ hours, paired with a whole chicken from the slow cooker, great.

A little bit fancy, but memorable for the first outdoor concert of the summer 2023.

Was much better on the nose than on the pallet. It did get better on day 2. Some tobacco, pepper, spices and dark red fruit. Was $23 at Costco, 2015 vintage

Not sure what I expected for $22, but this was barely passable. It was like a photocopy of an old picture.

Great wine for the price - strong nose; black cherry; spices; opens up nicely after 30 min or so; must be the soil in that appellation!

Berries with light tobacco, fairly light body (toward medium). Smooth. Drinkable now. Costco house brand - value for cost

Really really good characteristics and good potential. Could lay down for a few years and get even better. Smooth Bordeaux.

Color of mix of ruby red, brown and turned to yellow hue at the rim. Nose of chocolate, dried strawberries, sugar plum, raisins, cedar or oak, and maybe a bit tobacco leaves. Taste is similar with addition good refined acidity acidity, mellow tannins, and some nice peppery note. Aftertaste of similar acidity and peppery note, medium. Very nice indeed.

On opening bottle: Good nose of cedar and tobacco. Compared to the nose, not much on the palate; very closed up at this time with notes of oak. Tannins are relatively soft for this age probably because of the merlot.

After two hours in the decanter: Nose now has hints of dark fruit... think dried berries. Still very closed on the palate. Some fruit now coming through along with notes of clove and licorice.

Cherry, blackcurrant, pepper, mint. Well-balanced and integrated.
