So intensely minerally. Just loads and loads of pungent crushed rock. In the mouth, there’s some fruit, but then the minerals and acid take over. Tannins are there but it’s not overextracted. It’s a demanding but rewarding wine.

Such a great value. Syrah grown on rocky/stony terroir always wins out. This is Poor-Man’s Cornas (have I said that before?). Meaty, savory, loads of iron and crushed rock. Savory and mouthfilling. Good balance. Tannins are tamer than Cornas though.

Great nose: raw dry-aged strip steak, crushed rocks, peppercorns, oozy dark berry sap. Dense and minerally, this is soft-textured but with loads of tannic scaffolding. Long, clingy, minerally finish. Because it’s from Corbieres, the acids are a bit lower than, say, a Northern Rhône Syrah, but other than that it would be a dead ringer for a Syrah from that region. Great value.

Wow. This is geologically primal. Like resiny herbs, blackberry extract, and lamb's blood poured over cracked warm stones. Palate-clinging flavors. Feral dark berries and tons of minerals. Noticeable but very soft tannin and good acids (for a southern French red). Amazing value under $20.

More to say this time: earthy and leathery with some musty honeysuckle and a strong but not overpowering tannins. Some lavender and crushed gravel in their too. Lingers long in the mouth.

Grapefruit, raspberry, and something dusty or ashy on the nose. Charred oak, plum, and watermelon on the palate.
