Might be the most backward of the carlisle vineyards recently. This vintage is still extremely young and the wine takes several hours to open and an initial raisin note blows off. It eventually reveals a wine that is light in texture but full of depth. This claret like wine is made up of over a dozen different grapes and it seems each one takes a turn showing its character in this wine. It’s a beauty but one that wont truly be ready for at least another 5 years.

2014. Great tonight with a little rack of lamb. All the tools a fine zin can only hope to have. A delightful tension between concentration and elegance. Should come in liters and magnums only. Just so damn tasty. Memorable stuff.

Obviously, still young. Initially almost jammy fruit on the nose, but the wine itself is not. Fruit, mostly blue, is up front but this is definitely a structured wine with plenty of tannic grip. The fruit makes it accessible now but it'll hold for quite a while.

After a quick decant Morgan's version is plush, jam packed with dark fruit but braced by solid acidity and moderate tannin. Utterly gulpable now, but just at the very beginning of it's window so no rush.

Apr 23rd, 20174hr decant was not enough. This is much more open on day 2. After some extended air time it opens up with layers of blue fruit but really needs 5 more years to chill.
