Acquired via Garagiste this was the way to round off a night of tasting whites of varying strength/viscousity. May be the last Gamay I jump into for a while so @Gary Westby this is for you. A touraine gamay? How could I resist. It has all the freshness of a Chinon with the added floral and red berry note of your typical Fleurie or even a Morgon. It is not a shy wine. The licorice notes ride underneath the red berries and hint o' flowers and the there is the stone that makes you contemplate what the heck soil this was in precisely? Anyone? Seems slate-y to me. The blue-stone notes back up the berry/floral/licorice notes fantastically. The tannins are medium, the acid is medium and all Over I can't believe this wine was less than ten bucks?!!! I will be keeping Domaine du Rin du Bois on my watchlist. A WTF amazing deal.

Pretty intense for a Loire Gamay - a bit clunky, but excellent concentration and varietal character. Good Gamay for the price - drinks better than many Cru Beaujolais for significantly higher $$.

Really tasty medium bodied red, lots of spice and licorice, herbal and cherry at the same time. Mid to heavy tannins.

Great minerality and earth-driven notes. Gentle fruit aromas emerge after a few hours of decanting.

Quite pleasantly surprised by this. First Loire Gamay. Quite different from any Beaujolais I've tried. Possibly because it is showing its Touraine-area origins, underlying gravelly mineral and rose/violet character that I note quite often in Chinons and Bourgueils, and in fact it somewhat comes off as a lighter, more delicate version of the Cabernet Franc wines from either of those appellations (which is definitely not a negative for me). Fruit character is red with bright raspberry and sour cherry predominating. Moderate (+) acidity; soft, mild tannin. Wish it was slightly more acidic and concentrated on the palate but overall, great QPR.

2014, Domaine du Rin du Bois, Touraine Gamay. Light and fruity Gamay from Touraine. Just a good mid-week wine.

2014, Domaine du Rin du Bois, Touraine Gamay. I do like Gamay. Light, red fruit, good acidity, meant to drink young. This is no where near similar to a Cru Beaujolais, in my opinion. Just a good Gamay that is perfect on a week night. Would be a great summer patio wine.
