2017 was a great year for Riesling in the Clare Valley. Named after the acknowledged Master of Riesling in Australia , John Vickery. John’s Wines were awarded a massive 50 Trophies and 400 Gold Medals. I remember his amazing Rieslings he made for Leo Buring in the early 1970s. This wine has Lime juice and scintillating acidity and a nose of musk and Lime. Finishes Dry. Will live for a very long time.

Many of the Wine scribes in Australia are spruiking the 2017 vintage in Australia as superlative for Riesling. This Vickery did not disappoint. Aromas of Musk and Lime. The palate is richer than expected with the pronounced Acid one would expect. A long future ahead. On the basis of this I have ordered a mixed dozen of 3 different Rieslings from 2017 made by Jeffrey Grosset from the Clare Valley.

Simple and very drinkable rizza. Fresh and simple. Almost tropical in aroma with a citrus fresh palate. The Eden Valley 15 is better. More linear. But this is very drinkable

Cracking, classic Clare Riz. Vibrant, crunchy kafir lime leaves and sherbets goodness.

Hard to find good Australian Riesling in Michigan. So surprised to find it at Costco pre-Christmas. Fruit sourced from Eden Valley and Clare Valley. Crisp and dry with tart pear, peach and apricot. Great value but none left when I went back for more.

Bright acidity & decent nose. Could’ve have been a bit more forward but very nice.

Lovely Riesling. I’m not a huge Riesling drinker but will definitely be buying this again.

Fresh zesty citrus flavours, a hint of honey but finishes dry with a slatey/steely finish.

First white of 2016 for me. Lovely and fresh. Nice minerality.
