Five vineyard selection, Rioja Blanca. This gorgeous, white wine was a delightful way to begin the evening. Round, balanced, lush fruit with subtle minerality. Paired perfectly with shrimp risotto.

Jan 20th, 2018Wine nerd alert!! 🍷La Rioja morning. The mountains surround the region and hold the morning fog in keeping the temperatures down in the valley. You can see that much like the Napa Valley there are many microclimates here making for interesting viticulture. The soils are comprised of a chalky, powder-like dirt with large pebbles making for ample aeration. The vines range from 40-50 years old up to more than 100 years old. The difference is noticeable on the wines. The young and old producing equally beautiful but unique juice. The young, red wines are non-complex easy drinking and the older ones provide some layers to contemplate. The white wines made with indigenous grape varietals are dry, crisp and give aromas of honey, white flowers and melon. Cheers my friends.

Clear and bright deep ruby, clean pronounced nose curry, raspberries and cranberries, clove and dark chocolate. It's dry with med+ acidity, high fine and sweet tannins the alcohol is high and it's full bodied. Medium+ flavors of dark chocolate raspberries, cranberries and vainilla. It has a slightly dry texture and the finish is medium +. Very good bordering on outstanding a solid wine for the price. You can drink and has potential to age another 10 years, due to its balance between fruit and tannins that give it the stuff for aging. #rioja #artadi

Soon to have the rioja name removed as they are leaving the d.o. Which is a good move. Excellent wine and the vineyard speaks through the wine
