Just hitting this after about a three and a half hour decant. Color is very deep ruby, nice. Nose is quite alive with red fruits, and smokey. Tannins still present on palate, dried cherries. I think this needs more time to get going...
Night two, nose has mellowed. Palate is mostly the same, but any tannins are gone, smoother finish tonight. Next bottle should be post 2020.

Happy Birthday to me....
Pretty much at the top of my scale. Not a man for words right now after finishing my first day as a 50-year old. Grateful for my family, health, and my love and aptitude for my work.

99' Banfi Poggio All' Oro Riserva. Needed a one hour decanting. A sensational wine that's drinking absolutely phenomenal right now. Edit- If I had an extra hour/2 of decanting?
