I hate it when storage and transports robs the potential of a wine away, but I hate it even more when it happens to a wine I usually adore. Such was the case here. There was just too much distracting petrol notes on the nose for a Riesling this young. Having said that, there was still lots packed into this wine, especially on the palate. Seriously structured with laser acidity, and very generous on the fruit end (as expected of Hubacker). Finish was quite long, almost exotic, with some minerality although it pales in comparison to the Mosel GG we drank this with. The others on the table certainly enjoyed the wine, though I can’t say the label didn’t help.

2018 is in a killer spot, electric tonight and particularly aromatic with waves of stone fruit and layered minerality. Love it!

clear and angular. Citrus and steel. Salinity and an intense mid palate.

Wow incredible acidity, still needs time to soften that. Stone fruit, preserved lemons, grapefruit and amazing gout de petrol. Incredible wine but for the “acquired” tasters.

A top vintage for Keller for sure. 2010 Hubacker is simply complete, with explosive tropical fruit and stony minerality, electric acidity and tremendous weight and power. Totally in the zone.

Not much new to say, just great full of depth.

En Magnum...The Keller was electric and was springing from the glass with energy and aromatics. I’ve found 2016 Keller to be pretty tightly wound and not so giving. En magnum, it was so expressive. Size matters. Also, who doesn’t love Riesling mags, they look like freakin torpedos.

Always a terrific expression of Riesling. Youthful, deep and with layered complexity and nervy energy. Stone fruits, orange zest, wet stones and hints of grapefruit. It has superb tension and an ample mid-palate with a long, focused and elegant finish. Love Keller Riesling.

Riesling makers don’t get better than Keller. The king. And other than G-Max, (only had once), Hubacker is my absolute favorite and one of the best expressions of the grape on the planet.

Terribly young and needs heaps of time. The nose for me was just flooded with nose-hair-burning sulphur, even after three days of being opened. I just can't assess it. KP calls it yellow limestone, though. But the palate, I really loved. So deep, chalky, salty, and concentrated. Unripe pineapple, peach, lemon oil, orange zest, fresh-cut herbs, smoke, sea salt. So juicy and complex! Laser focus and long, elegant finish.
