Finally back home in my Sweden-based music-winecellar after 7 weeks in the US. This wine -- accompanied by the Manfred Symphony -- is dark red-purple with some cloudiness and medium viscosity; nose is dominated by black and red fruit, a sneeze-inducing major peppercorn rotundon component, and a pronounced mineraliy; in the mouth the fruit is confirmed accompanied by a dry rough structure with high alcohol, low acids, coarse tannins, and a long powerful finish. I like northern Rhône better but this wine is not far off. Oldenburg, in the Banghoek scary corner of Stellenbosch, makes this wine from young vines and 18 months of oak ageing.

Aug 19th, 2016Best syrah vaietal from SA I've yet tasted. Outstanding fruit and pepper notes, balanced long finish. Grapes are from young 12-year-old vines, hand picked and sorted; 18 mo on am and fr oak.

Delicious! Won Best in Class and couldn't agree more. Had these wines at Oldenburg in SA, a gorgeous vineyard & tasting experience.

Apr 14th, 2017Very aromatic and smells like it tastes. Semi-dry and fruity with raspberry and peppercorn notes. Medium viscosity. Lingering, tangy, and balanced aftertaste is my favorite part of the wine.
