Cool-climate Syrah at it's best. Tanagra apparently was some minor Greek deity of the wind, and it fits properly for a wine made so close to the sea and its influence. Casablanca is a typical valley for long-vegetative cycle grapes but the Villard family (originally from Burgundy) shows its dexterity making this superior Syrah. Highly recommended!

Funky earthy nose jumps right at you. Palate is refined and intense with beautiful black berry fruits and spices. The subdued and short finish was a tad of a let down, which might mean no more than 10 years of bottle aging. But a great and interesting wine, ready to drink, at a great price point.

Great aroma. Soft acidity like a nice aged Syrah and still so young. Perfect with the elk tonight!
