Cran raspberry nose shows sage and red cherry, roobios and blackberry. Tart entry of bing, red and black cherry, tilled earth, mushroom and light cola. Beautiful.

Dense and a rich Ruby colour. A closed latent nose not giving much at this young age. Also relatively closed on the medium to full bodied palate. Far too young - has not entered its drinking window of 2024 to 2034 according to Julia Harding MW. Masculine and powerful - a lot hiding in reserve with this wine. 94 points for now but probably 97 points in 10 years. Clos de Vougeot is 60 Hectares making it easily the largest Grand Cru but to be fair some of the lower holdings down near the road are not of GC quality.

I’ve owed Delectable some posts for a while now....and we need community now more than ever and Delectable has always been a positive, supportive community...so I’m jumping back in. I’m about 300 wines behind but I’m going to work backward starting with the wines I’ve enjoyed the last few weeks during this period of relative isolation. I’m calling this series “Loving Wine in the Time of Corona” as a nod to my boy Gabriel Garcia Marquez who was also a big time wine guy......this bottle is from our first Zoom tasting with the local wine group @romo @Steve Anderson @Michael Meyer @Matthew Beckman @Vickie Beuerle @Dan Blackwell on 3/14. Pinot theme. The Meo was youthful and pure, so much depth, concentration and lively red fruit. Good times with great people.

Started out rich, earthy, & meaty but faded over a few hours - many vicissitudes once the bottle was opened

Well, I did not expect to be tasting this on a Monday morning - but the Kermit Lynch tasting is always full of surprises with both steals and icons. This falls under the latter category. Structured by a backbone of dusty tannins and a pillar of acidity, this proves less austere than I am used to with young Méo wines. Medicinal cherry, ginger, tarragon, and earth. What a way to start the week.

Savory, concentrated cherries. Nicely integrated wood. Baking spice. Lovely.
