After a little time in the glass, the 2012 is going strong right now. A not-too-jammy nose mirrors the palate, and this is straight-up gulpable juice. Fynbos-y, fruity, and a bonkers value at $11 at the PA state store in Sewickley. Hurry, they don't have many left!

2012 A.A. Badenhorst 'Secateurs' Swartland South Africa. Mainly Shiraz and Cinsault, cleverly blended with a small proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinotage and Mourvèdre grown on granite soil near Malmsbury. Suave texture, Cinsault adds most convincing feature, it's suppleness. Liqueur like red currant and strawberry aromas, with mineral undertones. Fresh finish. Worth seeking out, good value for money!!

Credit goes to Jancis Robinson for introducing us to this fantastic steal of a Rhone-esque red field blend from South Africa's Swartland. Medium weight with endless layers of wild berries, #pepper, dried #herbs, earth and fine tannins for great food (or without!) versatility.

Thin and hot, would have lost all bets with ABV only coming in at 13.5%.

Capa y densidad media alta, granate y ribete violeta. En nariz buena potencia, fruta roja madura, notas balsámicas, ahumado ligero. En boca buena entrada, paso con buen secante, ligero, el final se queda un poco corto.

The 2010 is, right now, drinking really nicely. Feels more Syrah than Shiraz in style, and the balance of the blend is where it should be. Quite a value for the price.

Medium-bodied and smooth with layers of red plum, red cherry, hints of smoke, liquorice, Asian spice mix, and black pepper. Great value.

Pear and paw-paw, lemon pudding, pineapple spray, and lime zest form the atmosphere, riveting pine and lime interplay on landing, chalky and dusty brown touch, getting steely and framing a lemon peel and racy peach skin that recalls a Condrieu strata that keeps it very interesting indeed. #southafricanwine #cheninblanc #steen
