Vinted and bottled by Familia Nueva Vineyards, Creston CA. Moderately dense purple red in color, nice clarity. Wood, tar, raspberry and black current notes in nose. Mint and blackberry flavors in mouth, eucalyptus finish, cocoa and black pepper with seed astringency in aftertaste. Label mentions boysenberry, black cherry, jam, vanilla, oak and spice, all of which show up with time, as does white pepper on finish. Decent varietal complexity; could use a bit less wood. Sep 4th, 2017I liked this one one quite a bit after tasting a number of flat, boring zins in this campground tasting. This one has a zin nose and while not firey on the palate at least it has something to say. Nice job, Trader Joe's!

Not complex, but a pleasant bottle. No real faults accept the body was slightly thin for a Zinfandel. Notes of raspberry plum, and dark cherry. Wished for just hint more oak on this one too.
