Red fruits particularly cherry with stalky notes although I notice only 50% whole bunch fermentation. Quite a sweet palate initially - savoury and fruity at the same time. The oak influence is perfectly judged. Delicious - what a beautiful wine. Emphasising yet again that the Coal River Tasmania is perfect for Pinot Noir. The next night, just as impressive.

Apr 14th, 2023Medium Ruby in colour although a transparency to the colour. A varnishy red fruited nose - a very aromatic and attractive perfume. Earlier in its life the whole bunch influence poked out a little too much but generally a great balance with the pristine cool climate Coal River Valley fruit. See previous 2 notes here on Delectable. My last 2014 but I do have a 2013 which I will have next year when 10 years old.

Apr 23rd, 2022Pale Ruby bright red. Red cherry fruit, rose petals, violets and cinnamon with a touch of whole bunch influence. A lovely, fluid,medium bodied textured palate showing red cherry, strawberry and a touch of raspberry. A very delicious and polished Pinot Noir with high scores from all the Pros who tasted it. HH rated this #1 of 110 Pinot Noirs from Tasmania from the 2013 vintage. Obviously an exceptional terroir. Luckily I have one left.

Jun 17th, 2021Red fruits - mainly cherry with stemmy overtones, herbaceous with a touch of ginger. A good balance of whole bunch in the ferment. A wonderfully harmonious palate showing the same descriptors from the nose with medium plus intensity. A really good new world Pinot Noir - up there with the best. Will cruise through to 2030 in the cellar.

Mar 11th, 2021Pale to mid crimson in colour. Red fruit aromas - dirty cherry with just the right amount of whole bunch adding the complexity. On the palate just medium weight but with structure and balance. A serious Pinot from the excellent Coal River of Tasmania. My first of 3 from the 2013 vintage. I should leave the next one for at least 2 years if I can keep my hands off it. Footnote: Our Delectable friend, Scott Rowe, who works for the owners has pretty much nailed this wine. Just read several of his previous notes. “Get some” he says! I totally agree.

Feb 27th, 2021The first of 2 Tasmanian Pinots. Pale crimson in colour. Red fruits and stalky notes- too much whole bunch? But still a lovely aromatic perfume featuring rose petals on the nose. A light to medium weight palate which works. The typical Burgundian trait of a fuller flavoured palate than the colour would indicate.

Medium Ruby. Stalky also fragrant perfume - whole bunch in evidence in the ferment. On the silky palate sweetish red fruits , mineral, fruit and earth there with the fruit predominant at the moment. A very good Tasmanian Pinot Noir.
