I find most Nickle & Nickle pleasant but over-marketed.

balanced. elegant. ripe, clean, complex, not jammy, long acid and tannins. nothing out of proportion here.

Happy Halloween (again). Next up 2012 Nickel & Nickel. I chose opening the State Ranch (Yountville) bc it's probably the lightest and most approachable of the '12s from N&N. It's not one of their big Napa cabs: much more subtle. Some nice chocolate and blueberry notes

Tremendous pre Christmas treat. We drank with a delicious Pino's prosciutto arugula pizza. That's living!

2009 Vintage tasted July 2015. Purchased direct from tasting room a few years ago. Lighter than expected on the nose with whiff of dark fruits. Mix of red/black fruit melds into oak, liquorice mouthfeel, and hint of cigar box. Considerable balance.

Had a glass... Then turned it into a holiday drink by bringing the wine, sugar and mulling spices to a simmer for 20 minutes... YUM!!
