Delicious. Not sure I get the Bordeaux varieties. Once again, @Cathy Corison is correct.

Tonight's wine I have opened is the 2016 Gaja Sito Moresco Langhe. This is a blend of 35% Nebbiolo, 25% Barbera, 25% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon.

On the nose there is cherry, strawberry, plum, licorice, spices, light herbaceous notes, leather, violet and minerals.

On the palate is cherry, strawberry, plum, red currant, cedar, spice, minerals, a bit of salinity and earthy notes.

This wine is medium bodied that has a freshness to the smooth mouthfeel, medium + acidity and medium to medium + fine round tannins which moves into a long red fruit earthy finish. Have a wonderful weekend and Happy Mothers Day to all the mothers out there this weekend. Please stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

A blend of 35% Nebbiolo, 25% Barbera, 25% Merlot &15% Cab Sauv, Ruby with aromas of fresh red berry fruits, floral and earthy notes. On the palate cherry and strawberry flavors, slight citrus tang, well balanced with vivid acidity and fine soft tannins. Long finish ending with smoky minerality. Nice now but will age well. Tasting Sample!

Nebbiolo/Cab/Merlot Blend. Massive tannins with fruit struggling to keep up. Fine to drink but shows the weakness of the vintage.

Would have never expected this wine to be so good. For being 26 years old it is still so fresh and vibrant. Earthy components of dried flower petals, iron, barn dirt/dust, wild blackberries, nice spicy edges. Still well structured and beautiful acidity. I would have guessed this was a 10-12 year old.

Quite enjoyable if less serious than past vintages of this blend. I liked it but the alcohol level was higher than I would have liked as I have been drinking 12-13% and the 2-2.5% really makes a difference. Ripe bing cherry and red licorice aromas waft from the glass with subtle but noticeable oak, and just the lightest twinge of spice. This is all sex and gloss, sorry but I was disappointed. The price has gone up but the quality has gone mainstream, or down fort my tastes.

Sito Moresco and tell me that you love me...

Actually, this is a beautiful little wine. Classic? No. Piedmontese? Maybe in an off-hand way. Yet stinking delicious.
