GSM McLaren Vale Grenache Blend

Wow

A little dusty upon opening.
Once it awoke it was singing with lots of Mclaren Vale fruit we know and love.

I brought two bottles up from the cellar since I was skeptical that the '97 Rosemount Red Rhone Blend 'GSM' would still be drinkable. Wow, it had more fruit aromas and flavors than most recent vintages. Vivid plummy cherry flavors and subtle spiciness with nice underlying acidity. Rich and round with beautifully integrated oak and a smooth persistent finish.

Very interesting and cool example of South Australia GSM blends.

A nice wine that held its ground in our Old Vs New World throw down. Fruit still strong for its age.

Acceptable quaffer

A monster wine - great fruit - one of the best of this style of Australian wine that I have had - years ahead of it!

McLaren Vale gsm - boom

I should have opened this bottle at least 5 years ago. It’s still drinkable 20 years after harvest, but barely. It’s earthy but at this stage, devoid of any interesting characteristics. No fruit left, but it was good to experience it in late life.

This stunning GSM , cellared for 16 years, drank perfectly with lamb! Smooth tannins worked with tobacco, cedar, and leather, for a truly great sensation on nose and palate. Why we cellar good wines!
