After opening up for 45 minutes there is rich leather, ripe yet surprisingly fresh red fruit, sage, fresh cracked pepper and barrel room on the nose. The palate is long and easy with layers of well structured fruit and lavender notes all leading to a nice spice on the finish. This is a reminder why I originally loved GSM.

This was an incredible effort by the original owners. I hope there's a few bottles left. Dark fruit, mellow tannins and right from the gate is ready to go.

This is the best version of Focus I have had to date. Perfect time to drink the 2009. Berries, leather, and tobacco with a touch of oak. Really tasty, smooth, and zero tannins. Too bad this is the last one.

Opened and allowed to breathe 40 minutes (wished we could have decanted). Very good bottle in its own right- paired with bacon-wrapped dates as well as fired calamari & prawns

2012 Focus. Lovely at opening, decadent after decanting for an hour. Stone fruit, smoke, berry, and a light cognac finish. Perfection Paired with shrimp & filet mignon

Very ripe aroma. Rep fruit and plum. French oak, bit of VA. Vanilla. Bit of full and the literal smell of a new medium+ toast french barrel. Medley of fruits.

Mouthfeel is fairly round with some surprisingly biting acidity. Alcohol heat in the back. Astringency is smooth, bitter note lasts on the tongue. Hot. Food wine for sure.

Inky. Rich. Save this one for a steak and don't waste it on a cheese plate. Let it open up - so much better after a little air.

Just opened so will comment in a bit. Still tight and I need to get the steaks going outside. With some air, this wine developed tremendous complexity. The nose just blows you away with fruit and licorice with smokey notes. Initial taste attacks the pallet with intense currant, pomegranate, and blue fruits that mellows into a savory blend of complex spice and smoke. Remarkably smooth finish that lasts, persisting with the taste of ripe fruit. This is probably the best Focus I have tried to date.
