This one was beyond all expectation - 13.6% ABV, fruit nicely intact, very articulate and well- proportioned at 14 years of age.

A muted maroon color, the '01 Martinelli Pinot Noir 'Martinelli Vineyard Reserve' is alive and well. The first scents are spicy and toasty with stewed rhubarb and plum aromas developing with aeration. Rich flavors of dark berries and baking spices then coat the mid-palate of this medium-bodied and well-balanced wine. A little tart orange rind on the lingering aftertaste.
