The 2021 Zinfandel Giuseppe & Luisa is a vibrant, super-expressive wine. Sweet red cherry, mint, chalk, white flowers and white pepper bring out the higher-toned side of Zinfandel. Medium in body and racy, the Giuseppe & Luisa is a real charmer. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, July 2023)

This is a great fortified dessert wine.

Jokes aside, the fruit is very pure, the extraction surprisingly gentle. But the alcohol and RS are… something else. What occasion is this for?

Oh my wow! This is what I thought wine was supposed to be. Fruity, but with silky balance.

The 2019 Zinfandel Giuseppe & Luisa shows all of the intensity of the Martinelli wines, but with an extra kick of floral overtones and acid brightness to perk things up. Cinnamon, crushed red berry, wild flowers, mint and blood orange all run through this expressive, silky Zinfandel. The blend of Jackass Hill and Jackass Vineyard Zinfandel clones on four different rootstocks, which results in different ripening cycles and harvest times, all of which translates into notable complexity in the finished wine. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, January 2021)

16.4% ladies and gentlemen. Yeah, that’s hot. Still, the chocolate, raspberry and pepper shines right through. Nice, but for the exact right occasion only when you want to be thrown back.

Tired and overtly alcoholic. Not for me. Likely not for anyone.

This wine gets great ratings. I thought it was unbalanced. Hot.

Super round and balanced--gee whiz. A million percent alcohol but you'd never know. Fun label recalling this wine's first appearance in the 1920s.
