Wow!! Thanksgiving miracle #2! Been holding on to this Martinelli for a few years, and glad I took it out this year. It could still go for several more years, but knowing how good it is allows the search for more! 15.9% alcohol is steep, but it does not overpower Martenelli’s brilliant handling of their Zinfandel grapes. Almost like a fine Pinot Noir from the Bourgogne region. The nose is more perfume than fruit. Herbs, spices and a bit of pepper. It was truly the wine of the night.

Smooth, minimal aftertaste. Perfect to celebrate Kelsi getting accepted into CRNA school. By far the best Zinfandel I’ve tried so far. Let it breathe prior to drinking

After a glass poured from Coravin about a year ago, and then kept in bottle, this one has some rather serious longevity, this one was initially all about mint, herb spices, and green pepper with a strong black pepper finish. As this one sat in the glass, much more of a ripe, red fruit emerged. This one is way better with food than without. I'd easily say that this one is a 93 with food, but without food I think that a clove and kind of an herbal note kind of takes over this wine and lowers the rating. I think this wine will integrate further over the next few years, and really is still quite stiff on the finish.
