Another Weekly Wine Committee, this time hosted by @Weston Eidson and @Benjamin Keator ! They knocked it out of the park with French wines! As always, all wines are tasted blind.
Got the varietal correct, but missed on the location. Figured older Australian. This was still basically black in the center, with bricking around the edges. Smoked meats, cedar and blackberries.

Lots of oak, smoky, modern fruit profile with classic pepper and meat. Well made, but not my preferred style.

Tough Hermitage competition last night and it ranked slightly behind top producers JL Chave and Jaboulet (La Chapelle). Not quite as long and explosive, but who’s to complain

Nose of mushrooms, bandaids, ripe Concord grapes, wet wood. Tastes like you'd think - creamy chanterelles, rich jams - blackberry, concord grape again, finish introduces some ripe, roasted bananas. Medium/medium-low tannins and acidity - aging nicely. Really delicious

This old Hermitage just a couple of years short of 20 years still has life left, subtle tannins with great balance. Excellent wine.

One of my favorite songs from the Police is message in a bottle. This one has a message called perfection. You've never tasted Syrah this silky smooth. Smooth bouquet to start, crisp finish at the end and pure bliss in the middle. Incredible stuff, this!
