Inky wine from rim to rim. Charred boar ragout, marigolds and violets, in cedar planters. Chunky baker's chocolate baking, teak, black shoe polish, burnt mocha rye, mint in turned soil scribbled on by grape scented marker. Smoked plum, worm castings, raw chocolate, espresso grounds, graphite dust. Oak and pepper belched from an arcane volcanic sacrifice. Wood tannins mushroom and coat the tongue. 2.5. While not too bad, I found this Syrah a bit flat and wooden compared to similarly priced Australian Shiraz. On sale for $18.04, regularly $19.95.

Leicht animalisch, floral, ansprechend. Dem Alter entsprechend gezehrt und etwas dünn. Dennoch gut zu trinken dank des niedrigen Alkoholgehaltes von 12,5%. Etwas zu säuerlich und kurz. Über dem Höhepunkt aber nicht tot.

(16/20) Аромат бузины, сухих чёрных ягод с нотой серного перца. Довольно лёгкое в теле с высокой кислотностью и гладкими, шелковистыми танинами. Несладкие черные ягоды во вкусе. Элегантное, но не сложное вино.

CV tasting Crozes Hermitage 10/6/16. More muted but still attractive nose of meats and minerals and leaves. Great body of firm structure and balance and long finish that is savory and acidic and complex. Opened 10/16/16. Nose still attractive and more towards earthiness. Good body on palate and long finish of fall leaves and flowers and earth. Paired well with salmon and dark sauce. Cali bottle finished 10/21/16 Latham on way to North country. Still a nice wine.
