Flavors are intensely concentrated, marked by sweet berries, roasted coffee and licorice. It was aged for 12 months in 40% new French oak. Pairs well with grilled meats, rich stews, or heart pasta dishes.

Big plum dark fruit aroma. Big bold dark fruit with layers of flavors that change. Plums then leather/tobacco thick creamy rolling. then a dry finish.

San Francisco Bay fruit, so this seems to be a rather cool microclimate for this grape. I think this one is a little past prime. Still had some black cherry and dried herb notes. A little bit of pipe tobacco. Finish line of has a vegetal character that was a little bit off putting. But a little bit impressed at the longevity. This basically makes me afraid to open up the 75 Montelena Zin as I have a feeling it might be nothing more than mushroom and rotted fruit....

16.5+. 1995! Still deep ruby, a bit of brown at rim. Plenty of fruit remains. M+ length. Good with Thanksgiving turkey, followed the 2006 Lytton Springs well.
