Phenomenal structure and quite expressive showing plenty of secondary character, as it approaches merely the cusp of maturity. Dried violets and red fruits tar, mushroom and well integrated earth. Finishes tremendously long with both balance and elegance.

Dark, intense and structured. Very dense fruit. Lovely stuff though. Tightly packed. Great promise, so savory and pure. Lovely.. judging on where I think this could be

Musty nose on pop but after a decant and swirl the violets kick in and the bouquet delivers a whiff of truffle as well. Classic Barolo tar on entry, massive red fruit, rose petal and fig. A bit grainy and less vibrant than I’m used to from Giacomo Conterno. Good, not great length. A serious Barolo. More substantial than flashy. My preference runs to the Aldo Conterno wines but these are perhaps more “traditional” and worthy of contemplation.

Very savory on the nose with miso/soy notes. In the mouth still shows sweet cherry fruit, even after 50 years.

Day 1; way too VA to enjoy. Day 2; tight and youthful yet precise red fruit flavors with floral and licorice additions. High acidity and pronounced tannins on the finish. It will, for sure, get better in due time, but I sincerely doubt greatness will ever be associated with this vintage.
