Bouchet is a north-facing site, so it ripens more slowly than south-facing equivalents. The 2019 is a demi-sec style, so expect a small burst of sweetness on entry (14g/L). But after the sweet entrance, there comes a salt and pepper character to this wine. In addition, there's a spiciness to the ripe apple fruit, and a touch of pastry character from close to a year on lees. The 2019 has a fine, fresh finish with a sense of grip and chalky texture. Works perfectly as an after dinner wine, or paired with a target sweet dinner, but this still has a lot of RS left.

Epitomizes my love-hate relationship w/ Vouvray. This is NOT a wine for the dinner table. It is a beautiful demi-sec w/ botrytis influence. Would be perfect with a not too sweet cream or citrus dessert. But it has the same label as a bone dry beautiful Chenin Blanc for the table. Either a 9+ or a 6 depending on why you opened it.

Getting its golden hue on. Peaches, apricots, pineapple, with undertones of chalk. In a great place right now, but tons of life ahead. A lovely bottle to bring to St Lucia and drink on honeymoon! Wish I had another...
