The 2014 ‘Nicolas Catena Zapata’ is a gorgeous blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon with the remainder Malbec, as this wine was first made with the 1997 vintage. Sourced from the La Pirámide Vineyard (3,117 ft) as well as the Nicasia Vineyard (3,593 feet) and the Adrianna Vineyard (4,747 feet) the wine starts off with a gorgeous bouquet of dark currant, blackberry pie, mocha and spicecake that all marvelously combine in the glass. The dazzling minerality and texture to the wine really creates a seductive edge to this beautiful wine. Blueberry pie, black tea, Asian spices and dark chocolate shaving flavors all come together as the long, mineral and dark fruit driven finish delivers a lasting effect. Delicious now, be sure to give this a two hour decant if enjoying in its youth. Drink 2020-2040- 95

Exceptional blend. Concentrated flavors, full bodied but still holding a good finesse.

This is blend of 78% Cabernet and 22% Malbec.

On the nose, ruby, rich, ripe fruits of; blackberries, black raspberries, black plum, dark cherries, strawberries & cherries. Some notes of pyrazines, black licorice, dark cola, vanilla, cinnamon, nice dark spice with medium intensity, dry top soil, dry stones, bright red florals and violets.

On the palate, the body is medium full. The tannins are quite tame, round and sticky. Fruits are nice & ripe; blackberries, black raspberries, black plum, dark cherries, strawberries & cherries. Some notes of pyrazines, black licorice, dark cola, vanilla, cinnamon, nice dark spice with medium intensity, dry top soil, dry stones, bright red florals and violets. The acidity is round and rains over the palate. The finish is ripe, round, elegant, polished. Beautiful.

Lovely juice. Dark cherries steeped in tobacco and smoke. Polished. Fruit brimming with energy and not cloaked in a swath of oak.

Welcome to the long weekend. Tonight I have opened the 2007 Catena Nicolas Catena Cabernet Sauvignon. From Bodega Catena Zapata Mendoza, Argentina. The blend is 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Malbec and the remainder Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc.

On the nose there is black cherry, blackberry, black currant, leather, licorice, vanilla, smokey oak and dark rich earth.

On the palate there is black cherry, blackberry, black currant, licorice, leather, cedar, cigar box and earth.

This wine is full bodied yet showing it's age, soft and supple with medium to medium + acidity and medium to medium + mouthcoating grippy tannins that lead s us into a long black fruit and significant earthy finish. This is a great expression of Argentine Cabernet with some good years left in the bottle. Looking forward to this weekend and spending time with family. Have a great weekend and please stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Plums, blackberries, blueberries, cedar, graphite, incense, sweet vanilla. Silky texture with juicy dark fruit flavors on entry, exuberant midpalate with licorice, espresso, and dark chocolate with a long spicy finish filled with sweet silky tannins. A symphony on the palate, so fucking delicious!
