This Barolo shows its garnet color turning to that of bricks. The nose is soft and savory, with an earthy presence to frame the cherry and floral flavors. The palate shows red fruit and licorice with a hefty dose of citrus minerality. Oak spice plays a role, as does the wine’s great tannic structure. The finish is long lasting and centered on the savory side.

Cherry and raspberry aromas give way to ripe red berries, pepper and dirt flavors that culminate in a medium finish.

Over 150 years ago Giovanni Gaja opened a small restaurant in Barbaresco, making wine to complement his food. In 1859, he founded the Gaja Winery. Since, the winery has been shaped by each generation’s hand, notably that of Angelo Gaja. Under Angelo's direction, the the native Nebbiolo grape was elevated to world-class esteem. Aromas of rich berry fruits, herbs and earth. On the palate cherry and tart raspberry with tobacco, black pepper and leather, savory tannins, great mouthfeel on rich lingering finish.

The most pleasant kick in the teeth followed by the comforting arm of WOW on the end. I'd do it again.

Today I was able to enjoy the 2014 Gaja DaGromis Barolo. 100% Nebbiolo.

On the nose i was a le to get cherry, raspberry, strawberry, roses, spice, dried herbs and dusty earth

On the palate there was abundant red berry fruit, cherry, raspberry, pomegranate, anise, mint, white pepper, clay pot and dusty soil.

The wine is medium to full bodied with a soft mouth feel, medium + acidity and medium + fine tannins that lead to a medium to long fruit filled finish. A well structured and integrated wine that was a pleasure to drink. The weekend is upon us and I wish everyone an enjoyable and safe 3 days. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

🏅 Rating 92+/100 (4,25🌟)

Gaja wines night 22.09.18

Red berries, dusty aromas. Still tannic.Mid-level label of Gaja. It was tasted along with iconic Sperss '90 and you could see light years of difference between those. However if tasted on its own, that is very good Barolo with good vfm especially for overpriced Gaja.
