Mellowed with age. Peppery when opened, decanting brought out earth and depth. Drink soon,.

Great nose. The acidity and tannin is a bit aggressive. We'll see where this goes.

Aggressively tannic, could be a bad drinking window, but swirling, decanting, and leaving open 2 days didn't help. Maybe should have cellared another 5+ years?

Griffin's Lair pictured here... or the courtyard of the Frick. Delicious wine not pictured. I was surprised how open this was--the wine, not The courtyard--after about an hour. Like a slightly riper St Joseph. Amazingly listed at under 13% abv. Excellent pair with our steaks at Bowery Meat Co.

Very interesting to note the stylistic evolution from the '05 and '07 to this--much lighter and lower alcohol. Very elegant and balanced

A bit of a bruiser. Give it a few more years for the tannins to integrate.

Whoa. Dark. Thick. Meaty. Pepper. Could use some time to soften these tannins, but that said, a wonderful wine. I haven't met a wine from Griffin's Lair that I didn't like and I'd say the same for Arnot-Roberts.
