The Essentials 29 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
St. Helena, Napa Valley, California, USA
This was firing on all cylinders. Great acidity and tannic structure. Truffled musbroom, pipe tobacco, ripe blackberry, dark cocoa shavings aromatics. Very clay driven on the palate surrounded by dark chocolate covered cherries. Small hint of dust. Obviously a little past prime, but certainly still kicking and showing well.

Excellent and well structured cab. All about those smoky notes with cedar and cigar box. Black cassis. This will age nicely.

1 hour decant(lots fine/cloudy sediment). A remarkable dark magenta color. On the nose: expressive notes of dark cherry/plum, cassis, mushrooms, smoked meat, cedar, touch of eucalyptus. Taste: silky, luscious, layered wine with dark fruit, currants, pencil lead, chocolate espresso, smokey earth, spiced cedar/tar medium plus finish with a slight tannic kick. YUM! Their first RP100 rating and had to try at year 10...drinks well with the decant and will be fun to see where this will go....fortunately have more bottles.
