This is a "Great" wine. Sauvignon Blanc , mostly, Very old vines, all-natural ferments and extended sur lees barrel aging. 05 is now 9 years old! Full bodied and focused , nutty and fresh, layered and seamlessly textured. Probably at its peak today and singing.... From a very good cellar.

Named Anastasis for its “resurrection” in the cellar after fermentation issues. From low-yielding Sauv Blanc vines near Rutherford that were pulled after the 2013 vintage. Sherry notes, with some apple, nut and yellow jujube character. If you go in thinking Jura, you will enjoy this more than if you go in thinking California. Interesting wine. Only about 14 cases, hand bottled by @Graeme MacDonald and @Johanna Jensen according to Abe’s notes. Interesting that I will have consumed about 4% of total production by the time I finish my bottles.

Nose is like sitting on the coast of Maine. Salinity and pineapple sage on the palate. Nice mellow acidity. This could age even a bit longer.

My first thought when I pulled this 11 year old Sauv Blanc out of the locker was that I was probably five to seven years too late. Boy, was I wrong. Instead of golden, it was still light to medium straw color. Nose and palate were a bit subtle with lemon and peach, but still good acidity and minerality. A mouth watering glass of wine. I'd look for more, but with about 17 cases produced that may be a tough task. Sadly, the 60+ year old Sauv Blanc vines were only producing about 30-50 gallons of juice per year and have since been pulled.
