Château Montrose
La Dame de Montrose Saint-Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend
This is the 2019 Chateau Montrose La Dame de Montrose. Saint-Estèphe Gironde, France Bordeaux. The blend is 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot 4% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc.
On the nose there is black cherry, blackberry, black plum, black currant, perfume rose petals, green bell pepper, spice, vanilla and earth.
On the palate is black cherry, blackberry, plum, black currant, herbaceous, green bell pepper, licorice, black pepper and a real dark earth edge.
This wine is beautifully full bodied with medium + to high but not overbearing acidity and medium + sinewy muscular firm tannins that nicely move into a long black fruit rich earthy finish. This can definitely be a top line Bordeaux. I hope everyone is well. This weekend looks to be a good one. Drink something special with someone special. Stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Showing its youth but great potential - silky tannins, cassis, cedar and pencil shavings. A treat

Oct 17th, 2021Took an hour to open up to anise and red fruit notes, showing some maturity. Very impressive second wine from montrose.

Sep 14th, 2021I brought in one bottle of this at work to taste and see if lived up to the price being a lesser vintage (2006) It was certainly delicious but I think there are actually better Bordeaux wines to be had for that $75 price point (Only talking about this vintage I haven’t had others). Anyone else have thoughts on this??

Mar 11th, 2020Still youthful and structured, but with air it’s opening nicely. Graphite, cedar, cassis, bramble. Rich and tannic, bit with a long finish. No rush.

Jan 26th, 2020Very ripe and great potential. Could use some extra aging.

Oct 6th, 2018The nose of a 90 degree farm and barn right after the cows fertilized. Gripping smooth soft tannins sour cherries. This is all here and I will speculate that it has not even hit its peak yet. Mellow and elegant. Great pull @Frank !! Great summer finale!

Sep 2nd, 2018I celebrated another year on this planet earlier this week, always glad when I am continuing to count days gone by! Some fun stuff in the works for tonight.
Red/Black currant, plum skin, Kirsch, moist soil and mineral flavor traits.
