A nice treat, high in ABV (15.8%) but the balance masks it. Cranberry, cherry, and jammy fruit on the nose. Tannins are in check, tempered oak, med-long finish w/ an earthiness that reminds you of the old world. Thanks Dean & Deluca for the hook up.

Brambly fruit, menthol, tons of baking spice, sweet vanilla and cherry cough drop. Alcohol not overwhelming. Nice wine, needs food.

2012 vintage still young. Lots of chocolate/cocoa and smoke. Very soft tannins, wine probably has another 5 years until peak. That said, paired great with Vesuvios pizza!

I have always enjoyed Hendry Primitivo. Love to pair with spaghetti bolognese. The pairing definitely balances out the 15.6% abv. The pairing brings out a creamy chocolate finish not appreciated on its own. Lovely brambly fruit, smoke, and subtle tobacco notes.
