Secondary notes of earth & damp cellar from the age. Just about to fall over the hill, but after pouring a second taste, I get some olive & ginger notes. Tasted a few younger Cali Pinots today, but this older gentleman stands out in a great way.

Masculine expression of N Coast pinot. Needs decant to find hidden mineral notes.

Some spice and sweet cherry fruit flavors on the nose and palate. Easy quaffing wine.

Spicy, powerful HirshVineyard Pinot Noir. Classically American big style Pinot Noir lacking in old world aelements but full of big spicy black fruit.

So stunning for an 18 year old wine! Showing the slightest bit of age, as well as red currant, pomegranate, dried cranberry, dried rosemary, plum sauce, porcini mushroom. Still so much acid, silky smooth palate. Clearly a well-made wine.

Absolutely dead -- opened my last 2 bottles -- both victims of that awful synthetic (plastic? rubber?) closure used in 1995 by Siduri. This was my FAVORITE Siduri Hirsch Pinot when young, before the closure killed these 2 bottles. Very, very sad!! Drain pours, both undrinkable.

Not taking anything away from Siduri, but Hirsch Pinots always get me. This one has loads of fruit, dancing on the edge of candied despite the years, but still just enough restraint to satisfy the intellect too.
