I thought it edged out the LC19 on this occasion. The LC20 was just more expressive at this stage - more lifted with clearer fruit and floral characters, while similarly taut and chalky. Having said that, the differences were clearly marginal. So much so that by the end of lunch, the LC19 and LC20 were practically indistinguishable. Truly great bones here. A lovely reminder that great producers nail it year in, year out.

Opened for my baby boy’s first birthday. I don’t think I need to sing any more praises for the LC19. Beautiful, just beautiful. Notes are pretty much the same as before. Notably, it’s tighter than the LC20, which was also popped for the party.

Love LC19. It’s killer tonight, even more expressive than the last time I had it flaunting deep, powerful layers of ripe orchard fruit with smoky minerals, toasted hazelnuts and exotic spices. The palate is impeccably structured and concentrated with a satiny texture and vibrant energy that gives way to a saline and mineral laced finale. Pinot Meunier from the master, it just can’t be matched. This is the best release since LC13.

I must thank my fellow lunchers for not wolfing down this wine despite how much they all adored it. It really gave the wine a chance to showcase its brilliance. This was full-bodied, concentrated, hugely complex, and most importantly, super energetic. The flavours are pretty much consistent with my last notes, but the seafood lunch really took this up a notch. Paired perfectly with some steamed prawns. What a wine! Everyone’s pick for wine of the meal.

Boah! This was brilliant (and even more so with our top notch dim sum lunch!). Wish I had more time to see it unfold further, but alas such was the fate of a wine so delicious - gone too soon. Started off toasty, citrussy, and nutty, but as the bubble dissipated, notes of red fruits, hot cross buns, and floral nuances revealed themselves. Only in the last sip did the mineral notes peek through. Concentrated, vinous, and very long on the palate. I would even call it rich, but never tiring courtesy of the lively acids. Ah, such energy! A wine that falls into the coveted category of “power without weight” for me.

What can be said. Always a great choice and such a singular, terroir driven Champagne and an amazing expression of Pinot Meunier ✨

From the superb grower Jérôme Prévost who’s Champagnes display an incredible expression of Pinot Meunier. Shows richness and intensity, decaying flowers, smoked hazelnuts, caramel apple and a creamy mousse with a chalky minerality. Finishes with great length, focus and energy. Excellent.
