Sandpiper Barossa Shiraz

Easy Sunday evening sipper shiraz from down under. Blackberry, blackberry jam and blackberry yogurt, along with some black pepper and a bit of smoke, and smoked bacon. The palate is mouth-coating, with a nice, smooth mouthfeel, very soft, some magnificent blackberry notes all along, a sweet spot in the rear, very gentle tannins adding a layer of complexity in the finish and some blackberry and a tiny savory note in the rear, reminiscent of the bacon scents on the nose. It's a nice and easy wine, without anything to rave about, but well made and great for a Sunday evening sip-on on itself.

I'm quite satisfied with this wine. The smooth combination of fresh fruit flavorers, enhanced by seasoned plums and a hint of passion fruit, help to create a wine that can be enjoyed at many different types of social gatherings. All in all I am suitably impressed with this Shiraz.

I was impressed with this little bargain. Intense fruit - structure ok. Not overly complex but for $15 worth the money. 87 points.

Ripe plum and toasty oak!!

Gold medal royal Sydney wine show 2013, gold medal Royal Melb wine show 2012, bronze medal class 53 Aus national wine show 2012 ... This 2011 Shiraz from South Aus Barossa Valley has rich ripe berry fruit flavour with spicy oak on the nose ....yum!
