Super dark fruit profile. Oak is definitely present. Like my Grenache a little more light on its feet, and with some acid. Obviously a quality wine, but not made in the style that hits me where it should. On day three took on some curious umami-soy-liquid aminos on the nose. Slightly oxidized, but actually showed some real depth and complexity. Maybe this is just a lay down for 10 kind of wine.

Brambly blackberry, cassis, violet and lavender flavors. There's a lovely pastoral character to the wine that reflects the evocative landscape from which it is born. Chalky with excellent structure.

A perfect Syrah to go with steak. Simply fantastic. Long finish and beautiful balance.

This has huge potential. Deep, elegant, a suave personality. Yes there's oak and yes it's young but there is enough fruit to back it. Roasted black cherry and plum, spice cake, garrigue underbrush and lavender, roasted sage. Underlining notes of meat and animal with smoke, rocks, and herbs. Tannins are a bit forward and that soaring Grenache mid-palate is a few years off.

After two hours in decanter, the '06 Le Claux is singing. The nose was dark and savory yet fresh with pepper-tinged black fruit, giving way to rosemary, violets and exotic spices. On the palate I found velvety textures with polished black fruits which seemed to envelope the senses with dry extract, as notes of olive, pepper, and saline-minerality added gravitas. Inner violet florals and black pepper lingered long of the finish, along with a tug of tannin and dry extract.
