Starting to think that Santa Cruz Chardonnay needs just a few years and very careful oak handling. 2012 vintage more balanced than 2011. Ripe honeydew, poached apple and little pecan caramel but still fairly light and with decent acidity. Great value!

Took a couple of hours to come out of its shell. Plenty of structure. Hazelnuts. silky texture and fresh acidity.

From magnum. Such a full and complete expression of SCM Chardonnay. At its apogee. Vivacious, full of life. Fresh, fleshed out but still tight. The aromatic balance is between age and youth.; wort, hay, honeycomb, Jasmine and Un-toasted nuts. This is why Chardonnay speaks to me so powerfully.

An unexpected score from an office gift basket. Has a lot of the excessive characteristics of California chardonnays but with enough minerality to make it compelling. A bit much without food or the next day.

Crisp, delicious. Perhaps lacks a bit of flavor.
