It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix.

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

Pretty nose of blue and black fruits with light oak, licorice, tobacco and chocolates.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with black currants, plums, black cherries, light oak, spices, dark chocolates, herbs, coffee, licorice, peppercorn and pencil lead.

Tangy finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This 4-year-old Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley is drinking nicely now with nice complexity.

Soft, elegant and easy drinking. Showing nice complexity, tangy and interesting. Nicely balanced with a soft mouthfeel.

Good right out of the bottle and better with airtime. I gave it 90 minutes in the decanter. Shows a very pretty nose once it opens up.

Not your typical Napa Cabernet, as it is more in the Left Bank Bordeaux Style.

Good by itself as a sipping wine, and good with food too.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

91 points.

$55.

Grand Napa Vineyards Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 2017, California

It's time for a good
x. Here is a great one from Napa Valley.

Dark ruby in color with a reddish rim.

Fruity nose with blackberries, black plums, black cherries, cedar, vanilla, licorice, chocolates, tobacco, light vegetables, dark coffee, spices and black pepper.

Full-bodied, bold and smooth, with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, sweet cherries, cedar, light vegetables, pencil lead, leather, earth, vanilla, licorice, tobacco, herbs, spices and peppercorn.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a delicious, yet young, Cabernet Sauvignon. Drinking very nicely now, although will be better in the next 5 to 10 years.

Showing nice complexity with a great mouthfeel. As it opens up, more earth notes show up. Nicely balanced, tangy and spicy.

Good right out of the bottle and better after 2 hours of airtime. Easy drinking and interesting. A nice sipping wine by the porch.

I've also had the previous vintage, and it is very consistent.

Good by itself or with food. I paired it with cheeses and crackers.

Aged for 24 months in French oak barrels (60% new).

14.6% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

$110.

Happy National Wine Day!

This is a delicious Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley.

Showing black fruits with cedar, vanilla, cola, licorice, tobacco, chocolates, mocha, light vegetables, light earth and coffee.

Full-bodied, bold and big. Rich and extracted with medium plus acidity.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

Still very young and extremely fruit forward. Needs 5 to 10 years of bottle time to relax, but already drinking very nicely. Very chocolatey with lots of coffee notes.

Needs 3 hours to open up properly and show the complexity. Really comes home after 4 hours of airtime, with nice complexity and a great mouthfeel.

A great wine to sip on, and would be great with a nice piece of steak too.

Aged for 2 years in French oak barrels, 60% New.

It’s time for my #FridayCabernetfix. Here is a gorgeous one from Napa Valley.

Deep purple in color with a short purple rim.

Fruity nose of blackberries, black currants, plums, cherries, tobacco, mocha, cedar, leather, vanilla, earth, licorice, spices, dark chocolates and black coffee.

Medium plus in body, smooth and elegant, with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with blueberries, plums, currants, cedar, leather, earth, vanilla, licorice, spices, chocolates, tobacco, mocha, coke and peppercorn.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a delicious Napa Cabernet. Showing nice complexity and a great mouthfeel. I really loved smelling on it for a long time. The tangy finish, makes it more interesting.

Still young, and needs another 5 to 10 years of bottle time to mature properly, but already very yummy.

Good right out of the bottle, but shows the tannins only after 3 hours of airtime, so please be patient.

I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.

Aged for 2 years in 60% new French oak barrels.

One of these wines, you want to scream: “I want my money back”. Just can’t remember where I got it. Single note. Like going to a symphony and they have only brass instruments and the trumpets are really loud and perhaps out of tune. Lots of oak that finally settled, but nothing showed up after the smoke cleared other than dark single note fruit with a slight bitter edge. Win some, lose some. It is still a great weekend, we had a great day, and celebrating Jesus presence. I love having him in my life, guiding me, supporting me, teaching me, loving me.
