Oct 9th, 2019Much smoother with slightly muted flavors as compared to the Maker's Mark classic. It has some nice spice and a good burn that lingers on the tongue. Hints of dark chocolate and black tea, and what I imagine having a wheat stock dangling from your mouth. I would take this over classic Maker's Mark.

Dec 15th, 2020Really enjoyable 🥃 Plenty of warm spices, cinnamon-dusted cherries, caramelized brown sugar & vanilla custard (think crème brûlée), and sandalwood. This is a lovely leap in complexity to the Maker’s Cask Strength. I’m already looking forward to trying 46 Cask Strength.

Dec 5th, 2020This is a bourbon that I just had to try based on the many recommendations from friends and acquaintances. I'm not sure if it was just my palate, but I'm not sure that it lived up to the hype.
The bourbon was smooth, no doubt, but as crazy as it sounds, was almost too smooth. I felt, in lack of a better wording.. Let down. Not by not living up to the hype, but by lacking depth. It started with an oak rich flavor that screams bourbon, but quickly transitions to caramel notes. It's what comes next that left me perplexed .. it faded out, leaving me wanting more. How could it start out so strong, flavorful, inviting but yet missing something. A good bourbon, but not great.
In closing, it's not all "doom and gloom". It's obviously a pick of many others, but just not for me. Would I buy it again? No. Would I drink it over many other bourbons? Absolutely. A true 7.5 out of 10 bourbon.

Maple, vanilla and French toast character. Smoky and very sweet and a good choice for a Manhattan but too sweet for Old Fashioneds. Not crazy about using oak staves for flavoring but this is no doubt appealing.

Dec 30th, 2017Nose of sweet aldehyde, caramel, hotness in nasal cavity, spice, and woody fragrance. Taste is spicy yet gentle on the tongue. Taste of ripe apple, pineapple, grassy mint, creamy caramel, nutmeg, and some citrus peel on the rim of the tongue. Aftertaste is long and savory. I surely believe the smoothness is from the balance between spice and sweetness.
